Why Your iPhone Display Keeps Dimming (and How to Stop It)
Feb 06, 2025 am 11:15 AMSolve the problem of iPhone screen continuing to dim: Five practical tips
Your iPhone screen continues to dim? This may be due to some features that automatically adjust the color or brightness of the screen, which will be adjusted according to light conditions or battery life. The following five tips may help you solve this problem.
1. Manually set the brightness level
By default, your iPhone will automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the surrounding environment. For example, on sunny days, brightness reaches its highest level.
If you don't like this feature, you can turn it off and adjust the brightness yourself. To do this, open the Settings app on your iPhone and go to the Accessibility menu.
In "Accessibility", click "Show and Text Size".
In "Show & Text Size", scroll down and toggle the "Auto Brightness" option.
Your iPhone will no longer automatically change the brightness level. You need to adjust the brightness bar in the control center to manually adjust the control center.
2. Turn off attention perception function
If you have an iPhone with Face ID, the screen may be dimmed to save battery power when your phone thinks you are not staring at the screen. To make sure this smart feature doesn't affect the brightness of your phone's screen, try turning it off for a day.
You can go to Settings >Accessibility>Face ID & Attention and disable "Attention Perception".
3. Check the original color display options
The newer iPhones (iPhone 8 and later) can automatically adjust the color temperature and intensity of the monitor according to the ambient light of the room, which is called the "original color display". But this may not always work, especially if you keep moving.
Turn off the original color display to keep the display's appearance consistent and prevent its brightness from fluctuating. To do this, please turn on Settings > "Display and Brightness".
Then, click the switch next to "Original Color Display" to disable it.
4. Disable Night Mode
Night mode is another setting that may affect the brightness of the screen. It warms the screen color for easier viewing at night. However, when it comes into effect, your phone screen may also look darker than usual.
You can disable Night Mode to see if it solves your phone's brightness problem. Go to "Settings" > "Show and Brightness", and then click "Night Mode".
In the Night Mode setting, turn off the switch next to the Timed option to exit Night Mode.
5. Extend the iPhone automatic screen lock time
When your iPhone is idle, it automatically turns off the screen and locks itself to save power. Just as it's about to do so, it also dims the screen so you know it's about to turn off.
However, if your screen dims too often, you can extend the lock time of your iPhone.
Go to "Settings" > "Show & Brightness" and click "Auto Lock".
In the menu that appears, select the new "Auto Lock" time period. If you don't want your iPhone to lock itself, you can also select the "Never" option.
, exit "Settings", hope your problem has been resolved now. Good luck!
