Have you ever wanted MacOS to have separate Dock settings depending on whether you're using an external display or just the built-in screen? Or perhaps wished that macOS could detect when your MacBook Pro is hooked up to an external monitor and automatically adjust the Dock's position or size accordingly?
That's precisely what HiDock offers — a free third-party utility that lets you define custom Dock configurations based on your display setup on a Mac.
For instance, you might prefer a small, auto-hiding Dock on your MacBook Pro’s internal display, but want it larger and always visible on the left side when connected to a 30" external monitor. With HiDock, you can do exactly that.

You can download HiDock for free from the developer’s site, and it’s simple to configure to match your preferences. Just launch the app and tweak the settings to control how the Dock behaves and where it appears across your active displays.
Keep in mind that on a Mac, you can quickly bring the Dock onto an external or internal display by swiping down twice at the bottom edge of the screen (or sideways if the Dock is positioned on the left or right). It may also be useful to designate a primary display, which tells macOS which screen should show notifications, as well as serve as the default location for the Dock, menu bar, and more.
