Starting Apache service and configuring it on macOS is a common operation for many developers, especially when building a local development environment. Let me answer this question in detail and share some of my personal experience and precautions.
The command to start the Apache service is so simple, just type:
sudo apachectl start
But this is just the tip of the iceberg, and what is really interesting is the little episodes and tricks encountered during the configuration process.
First of all, the Apache configuration file that comes with macOS is located in the /etc/apache2/ directory. The main configuration file is httpd.conf , and you can customize Apache's behavior by editing this file. The way to open this file is:
sudo nano /etc/apache2/httpd.conf
During the configuration process, I found some interesting details. For example, by default, Apache will listen on port 80, but if you already have other services occupying this port, you need to modify the Listen command. Like this:
