On Twitter this morning, MindsEye released a detailed blog post outlining its current focus, primarily centered on performance improvements and bug fixes. A portion of the statement reads:

“We are heartbroken that not every player was able to experience the game as we intended. Our priority is optimizing performance and stability so that every player, across every device, can enjoy an equally high-quality experience.”

“We are fully committed to ensuring all our players have a great experience, and we will continue to provide frequent and transparent updates. We will do our best to respond to all your comments and feedback.”

Yet while performance and bugs are significant issues, they aren’t the only problems. The deeper issue remains that the game itself simply isn’t enjoyable, and no amount of patches can fix that. In the past 24 hours alone, there have been incidents like streamers laughing uncontrollably while trying to pitch the game in a sponsored segment, or major streamers having their #ad deals pulled by the publisher just minutes before going live.

Although it's understandable that the developers at MindsEye, after years of effort, don’t want to abandon the project, it feels like too little, too late. The launch was weak, peaking at only 3,300 concurrent players on Steam — and keep in mind, this is a title from someone who led the GTA series for many years. After the initial drop (and wave of refunds), player numbers are already dwindling. Here’s what it looks like:

It lost about 60% of its player base within two days, and today’s numbers appear even worse as the game’s pulse continues to weaken.

This one missed the mark. I’ve seen games claw their way back from disaster, but this doesn’t look like one of them. This isn’t Cyberpunk 2077, where a decade of anticipation and ten million sales gave the studio the momentum to fix early issues. This is a game few people played and even fewer will bother with again after this week, regardless of how many patches come through.
