This newest daily word game from the NYT was developed in collaboration with The Athletic, a subsidiary of the New York Times that handles the publication's sports reporting. The game can be accessed via web browsers or mobile apps, and the goal is to find groups of four words that share a common theme.

Each puzzle consists of 16 words divided into four distinct categories. These groupings could include anything—such as types of fruit, famous authors, car brands, etc. Although some words may seem like they belong together, there's only one correct grouping.

When you correctly identify a set of four words, those words are taken off the board. If your guess is incorrect, it counts as a mistake—you’re allowed up to four mistakes before the game ends.

You can also shuffle the board to better visualize possible connections. Each category has a color code: yellow (easiest), green, blue, and purple (hardest). Just like in Wordle, you can post your results on social media.
