After Hitchins’ win over Paro, I had the chance to speak with him exclusively where he touched on the possibility of facing both Kambosos and Lopez.

Me and Teofimo would make for a massive fight—both New Yorkers, both vocal personalities. That’s a big-time money matchup. But who knows where Teo stands? He seems all over the place lately.

Kambosos—he’s from Australia. A former undisputed champion. He crashed Teo’s homecoming in NYC. And he talks a lot.

I remember being on a flight from London. When I landed in New York, I checked Twitter and saw him saying things like, 'You’ll never be champ.' Funny thing is, my next fight was for a world title.

Now I’m the reigning world champion calling him out.

Looks like Hitchins got half his wish—at least for now. Things remain uncertain regarding Lopez, especially considering his current situation with Turki Alalshikh.

As for Kambosos, after making headlines in 2021 with a split-decision upset over Lopez, he has since gone 2-3. His victories have come against less impressive competition—most recently Jake Wylie in March, and another world-title win over punchless Maxi Hughes in July 2023.

Kambosos suffered two clear defeats at the hands of Devin Haney and lost the IBF strap to Vasyl Lomachenko via 11th-round TKO in what turned out to be Lomachenko’s final bout in May 2024.

If Hitchins fails to overcome Kambosos, it won’t look good for the 27-year-old who aims to become a true draw in the sport. If Kambosos falls short, there will be little doubt left that the 32-year-old is past his prime at the elite level.
