How To Play Strands
The New York Times’ Strands puzzle is a variation of the traditional word search. It's currently in beta, so its continued presence depends on daily player engagement.
Each day brings a new Strands puzzle. You'll be shown a grid of letters measuring six by eight. The goal is to locate words that share a common theme, which you’ll receive a clue for. When a theme-related word is found, it will stay highlighted in blue.
In addition to the theme words, there's a special term to uncover known as the spangram. This word explains the connection among the other words and stretches from one side of the board to the opposite side. While theme words won't be proper names, the spangram might be. Once located, the spangram will remain highlighted in yellow.
Be careful: You’ll need to think carefully.
"Some themes are fill-in-the-blank phrases. They may also be steps in a process, items that all belong to the same category, synonyms or homophones," The New York Times explains. "Just as she varies the difficulty of Wordle puzzles within a week, [Wordle and Strands editor Tracy]
Bennett intends to challenge Strands players occasionally." What Is Today’s Strands Hint?
Time for the NYT hint followed by my own hint:
Breaking up the band

What Are Today’s Strands Answers?
We now move into the answer section with the spangram and the complete list of other answers. The spangram is:
ROCKGROUPS
Here it appears on the page, keep reading:
The answers include:
- SMASHING
- PUMPKINS
- TALKING
- HEADS
- CHEAP
- TRICK
Strands has previously used this pairs concept, meaning we effectively only find three solutions unless the other half leaves you completely puzzled. In this case, we're looking at some well-known older rock bands, although not quite ancient enough to be unfamiliar to me as a millennial. Naturally, countless bands could fit this puzzle, but space is limited.
