Well well well, I’m back. It’s been a couple weeks since I walked you through one of these Strands puzzles. Back then, we weren’t even halfway into June yet. Time has flown and now we’re here. The end is approaching. July is on its way. Let's uncover some words for this Saturday grid, shall we?

Strands is the latest addition to the New York Times' collection of puzzle games. It adds an enjoyable twist to traditional word search puzzles. Each day presents a new theme, and your goal is to find all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that stretches from one side of the board to the other. One of the words is the spangram, which connects two opposite sides of the grid and provides further insight into the day’s theme.

Today’s Strands Breakdown

This was an intriguing Strands puzzle. The spangram—BATTERIESREQUIRED—is located entirely on the left side of the grid instead of crossing through it. I actually found this one first. I spotted BATTERIES, which I thought was the . . . in the theme, but when that didn’t work out, I kept searching and found REQUIRED. Naturally, my mind went back to the classic movie Batteries Not Required, a fantastic film from 1987 that I watched many times growing up.
