It’s Sunday and we have a very special Strands puzzle to solve. Honestly, I believe this is the most imaginative Strands I’ve tackled since it launched, so share it with your friends and family and get them involved. I always appreciate when the puzzle creators at the New York Times go above and beyond, and today is no exception. Let’s dive in!
Strands is the latest addition to the New York Times’ collection of puzzle games. It offers a fresh take on traditional word search puzzles. Each day, players are given a new theme and must uncover all related words hidden within the grid, including one that stretches across two opposite sides of the board—the spangram. One of these words will be the spangram, connecting two sides of the puzzle and offering deeper insight into the theme.
Spoilers ahead.
Today’s Strands Hints
Continue reading for today’s theme and some helpful hints to assist you in solving this puzzle. Rather than listing the first two letters of each word, I’m offering three clues instead of the usual two.
Today’s Theme: Hue are my sunshine
Hint: Shades
Clue: Seriously, that’s really all you need.
Instead of the standard letter hints, here are today’s bonus clues:

What Are Today’s Strands Answers?
The spangram for today is: CHASINGRAINBOWS
Here’s the full list of words:
- ORANGE
- YELLOW
- INDIGO
- BLUE
- GREEN
- VIOLET
Here’s the completed Strands grid:
Today’s Strands Breakdown
See what I mean about the creativity here? Each word is color-coded to match its actual hue. I found VIOLET first, then YELLOW and ORANGE. GREEN and BLUE came next, followed by RAINBOW. I had to think a bit before spotting CHASINGRAINBOWS, which is a clever spangram because it actually resembles a rainbow shape. INDIGO was the last word I uncovered. Not the toughest Strands challenge yet, but definitely among the more enjoyable ones.
