'Mecha Break' Is Finally Here, Get Ready For Some Epic Mecha Action
With several open betas and a lengthy, complicated development cycle behind it, the game has taken some time to settle into itself—but Mecha Break is now finally available for general release.
It’s also available on Xbox Series X|S, and I’ve been diving in properly. Surprisingly, the game handles well on console with a controller, so it’ll be intriguing to see how it performs over time.
This is especially interesting because the aesthetic of the mecha designs and the fast-paced aerial gameplay suggest that Mecha Break will likely resonate most strongly with players in Asia.
So the decision to launch first on Xbox Series X|S feels a little odd—considering Microsoft’s console brand has never had strong traction in markets like Japan. However, a PlayStation 5 version is reportedly still in the works.
You can also grab the game on PC through Steam, which is where I expect most of the early player base to reside.
Whatever the case, Mecha Break is an unabashedly full-on mecha game—not a Gundam-branded title trying to mimic Overwatch, or a shooter where characters dress up as mechs.
This is the real deal, and hopefully, it finds its audience.
