ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1475 Hints, Clues And Answer For Thursday, July 3rdBy Erik KainIt’s Friday the 4th of July. America Day. Time to celebrate—and perhaps reflect on—our national pride. I believe there should be a balance between acknowledging what we’ve done well and what still needs improvement as Americans and as a nation, especially on a day like today. We absolutely should celebrate. But we must also remember our past, the challenges we’ve overcome, and those we still face. I’m not in favor of unquestioning nationalism. At the same time, I don’t think it’s helpful to focus only on the negative. No country is perfect. To genuinely celebrate America, we need to embrace both the good and the bad.
And naturally, we have to grill out. And maybe watch some kind of sports game, though I'm not exactly sure what's on right now. I do know there's one particular national pastime that many of us play every day, so let’s get to solving this Wordle!
How To Solve Today’s Wordle
The Hint: Appears in roads and baseball fields.
The Clue: The final letter of this Wordle is a vowel.

Wordle Analysis
I use Wordle Bot daily to help evaluate my strategy. You can analyze your own Wordles with Wordle Bot by visiting here.
I began with STAKE because I was thinking about vampire lore. That gave me just one correct letter and left me with 159 possible answers. My next guess, CHOIR—which I often use early—narrowed it down to four options. Still uncertain, I tried PRUDE to eliminate more possibilities, which left me with only one word remaining, although it guaranteed I wouldn't solve it in three guesses. The final answer was CURVE.
Competitive Wordle Score
I earned 0 points for solving in four and -1 point for losing to the Bot. The Bot scored 1 point for solving in three and another point for beating me, giving it the lead again this month:
Erik: -1 points
Wordle Bot: 2 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Solving in 1 attempt earns 3 points; 2 attempts = 2 points; 3 attempts = 1 point; 4 attempts = 0 points; 5 attempts = -1 point; 6 attempts = -2 points; failing to solve = -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent, you gain 1 point. A tie gives 0 points. Losing costs you 1 point. Total your score each day. Maintain a running total or reset daily.
- On Fridays, all scores are doubled (positive or negative).
- Keep a weekly tally or just enjoy each round individually. Have fun!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word "curve" originates from Latin curvus, meaning "bent" or "curved." It entered English through Old French courbe, derived from the Latin curvus. The root curv- signifies bending and appears in other words such as curvature and incurvate.
