Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 release date rumors: when might this foldable flagship launch?

Jul 08, 2025 am 01:01 AM

There’s a strong likelihood that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the top foldable phone of the year, as leaks hint that this follow-up to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 will bring significant improvements.

If you're genuinely interested in foldables – and have the financial means to invest in one – then this could be the model for you. It hasn't been released yet, but it's likely coming soon – and we have a solid understanding of when that might happen.

Below, you’ll find our projections regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 announcement date, pre-order start date, and shipping date. These estimates are based on a combination of teasers, leaks, rumors, and Samsung’s usual schedule.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 announcement date predictions

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 release date rumors: when might this foldable flagship launch?

Our best estimate for the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is July 9. In fact, we're nearly certain we'll see it then, since Samsung has scheduled its next Galaxy Unpacked event for that day, and has hinted that foldables will make an appearance.

This event starts at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST on July 9, which translates to midnight on July 10 in Australia. You can watch the event online – here's how to stream Samsung Galaxy Unpacked live.

The company hasn’t explicitly named the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, but even before the Galaxy Unpacked date was set, we were leaning towards either July 2 or July 9.

Why those dates? Well, the past few models have launched in July, making it the most probable month. Additionally, South Korean site The JoongAng had indicated to expect the phone early in July, which probably means within the first couple of weeks.

Also, Samsung generally reveals new Z Fold phones on a Wednesday, narrowing the options down to July 2 or July 9.

Of course, The JoongAng could be off, but the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 was announced on July 10 last year, and Samsung has been moving the announcement dates slightly earlier each of the last few years, so if that trend continues, early July seems likely again.

Plus, prior to the Galaxy Unpacked date being confirmed as July 9, it had been floated as the potential launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

That said, there is one leak pointing to a July 10 release, but due to time zone differences, that could still equate to July 9 elsewhere.

We can’t completely eliminate the possibility of a later-in-the-month date or a non-Wednesday launch, but current signs point toward this direction. At the very least, with reports indicating the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 entered mass production in May and has now been certified in South Korea, it should be ready to arrive around July.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 pre-order date predictions

We can also make a solid guess about when pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will begin, with our best bet being July 9.

The reasoning is straightforward: Samsung typically opens pre-orders on the same day it announces new devices. This happened previously with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Samsung Galaxy S25.

While it's possible Samsung might deviate from this pattern, we don't think it’s likely. If our pre-order date prediction turns out incorrect, it’s more probable because our announcement date guess was off, as whenever the phone does get announced, we’re almost certain you’ll be able to pre-order it immediately.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 shipping date predictions

Shipping dates are what we’re least confident about, as not only do they depend on our announcement date prediction being accurate, but Samsung isn't quite as predictable about when phones ship compared to when they go up for pre-order.

Still, there is a general trend, with recent Samsung Galaxy Z Fold models and many other Samsung smartphones usually shipping roughly two weeks after their announcement. The exact timeframe varies, typically falling between 12 and 16 days.

So, if the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is indeed announced on July 9 as expected, then two weeks later would be July 23.

However, there is one shipping date rumor suggesting it won’t arrive until August, though we remain skeptical since that would break Samsung’s typical pattern.
