Built on Leia’s proprietary Neural Depth Engine, the app processes still images and adds natural depth along with simulated motion—such as pans, zooms, and parallax effects—to create short video reels that give the impression of stepping into the scene. “Our goal was to develop an app that’s simple to download, user-friendly, and strong enough to help anyone turn everyday photos into emotionally compelling, dynamic content,” said David Fattal, founder and CTO of Leia Inc.
The launch represents a significant shift in Leia’s approach to consumer products. Previously, the company's main web app, LeiaPix, mainly served 3D artists and experienced XR users who wanted to convert stereoscopic or 2D content into 3D for use on specialized devices. With Immersity, however, the company is expanding its reach and repositioning its entire product lineup.
Fabio Esposito, CEO of Leia, stated, “We launched Immersity in May 2024 as a platform encompassing both Immersity for Web (which replaces LeiaPix) and Immersity for Mobile.” He added, “With this rebranding, we’re focusing on what really counts: the immersive experience, which isn't dependent on the type of media used.”
While the web app allows for video conversion and supports export resolutions up to 4K, the mobile app focuses solely on still images. According to Fattal, there are no plans to add video support on mobile: “It serves a different purpose. Immersity for Web is aimed at professional creators and XR/VR users, while Immersity for Mobile targets everyday users who want more immersive daily content.”
This distinction between use cases aligns with Leia’s broader hardware-software strategy after acquiring Dutch display company Dimenco in 2023. The combined company now aims to provide a full-stack platform that integrates AI software with next-generation “3D-ready” displays.
“Since the acquisition, we’ve successfully merged both technologies into one platform,” Esposito noted. “Our software works across all devices—from existing ones to new models like the Red Magic 3D Explorer. Our vision is straightforward: every device should feature Immersity.”
Although most people will view Immersity content on phones or laptops, Leia believes that demand for depth-enhanced media will eventually change how digital content is made and consumed. As Esposito put it, “We believe Immersity will become as standard as touch controls are today.”
