How to Get the Master Sword in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The Master Sword is embedded in the head of the Light Dragon in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Dragons don't remain stationary, and the Light Dragon especially roams across a vast area compared to other dragons, making it hard to pinpoint its exact location unless you have another means of tracking it—more on that later.

We've personally seen the Light Dragon near the Great Sky Island, but reports suggest it has also been sighted near the centers of Akkala, Necluda, Gerudo, and Hebra regions around Hyrule.

When looking for the Light Dragon, keep an eye out for a yellow and blue glow coming from a dragon’s head—that’s the Master Sword. The coloration helps identify the correct dragon. If you're close enough, using the Camera ability obtained during the Camera Work in the Depths quest will help confirm it’s the Light Dragon by displaying its name above it.

It's crucial to defeat Phantom Ganon immediately after defeating the Gloom Hands, as the hands will respawn if you leave during the Ganon fight.

After cleansing the Deku Tree, the Light Dragon's location will be marked permanently on your map, allowing easy access whenever needed.

Once you've reached the Sky Islands, you can observe it flying below, and with precise timing, you can leap onto its back. Bear in mind, however, that while this method works early, you'll still require two stamina bars to proceed.

Once you've successfully acquired the Master Sword, there are several important points to note.

• The Master Sword is the only weapon in Tears of the Kingdom that never breaks. Regardless of usage frequency, durability will never deplete.
