In Arrakis, traveling across vast desert landscapes is a big part of playing Dune: Awakening. Fortunately, you can unlock a fast travel system that allows movement to previously visited locations from one of three available spots. It's not the most flexible fast travel system—especially when compared to games that allow teleportation to nearly any location or every point of interest—but it’s definitely better than having none at all.

Unlocking fast travel in Dune: Awakening happens quite organically, though it's easy to overlook since there’s no explicit notification indicating that you've unlocked it while completing early main quests.

How to Unlock Fast Travel

During the quest titled "A Touch of Civilization," you're tasked with visiting the Griffin's Reach Tradepost for the first time to learn about contracts. Upon reaching this location, you actually unlock the fast travel feature. However, there’s no indication that it has been unlocked, so you might leave the tradepost without realizing this new functionality is now available.

How to Use Fast Travel

To utilize fast travel, you must talk to an ornithopter pilot. The first such pilot appears at Griffin's Reach Tradepost. When interacting with them, you can choose the option to fly somewhere, which opens a list of accessible locations. The confusing part is that you need to be at a tradepost to access the fast travel menu, but then you’re given a selection of three possible destinations. Choosing one reveals another list that enables you to fast travel to key areas you've already discovered.

Ideally, the fast travel system would benefit from an update to make it more user-friendly and less ambiguous. Until then, you’ll have to depend on tradeposts for travel, and you'll probably find yourself using the Hagga Basin location frequently to return to previously accessed key points. Alternatively, you can speed up your travels by constructing and using vehicles within Dune: Awakening.
