How to unlock the Royal Hidden Passage in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
To access the Royal Hidden Passage in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you can either complete the four temples or find the entrance from the opposite side. Both methods are explained below.
Beat the Four Temples
The first method involves completing one of the four temples—starting with the Wind Temple is recommended—and then heading to Lookout Landing. At the center of the area, you’ll find a hole with a ladder leading down into a basement. Here you can use the bed to rest, cook meals using the pots, and pick up weapons from the racks.
Proceed to the far end behind the ladder, where you'll encounter a woman with a broom. If you've completed a temple, she will mention that part of the wall ahead has collapsed while she was cleaning. This reveals an entrance to the Royal Hidden Passage.
Enter from the other end
Alternatively, you can enter the Royal Hidden Passage from the other side. Head north from Lookout Landing towards Hyrule Castle. Go through the main gates and look upward. You should spot a ledge featuring what appears to be stone windows carved above it. Refer to the image below for reference.
Climb up and access the balcony, which leads to the Observation Room. Drop down to the lower floor and locate a metal trapdoor that can be opened using Ultrahand. This will grant entry to the Royal Hidden Passage.
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Royal Hidden Passage Cursed Statue
Upon entering via the Lookout Landing route, the first point of interest is the Cursed Statue. To reach it, move forward from the entrance, breaking through rock walls as needed. Bomb Flowers are ideal for this task, and plenty are scattered around. If supplies are low, consider finishing the Fire Temple to obtain Yunobo’s Vow ability, which makes clearing rocks easier without consuming items.
Eventually, you’ll come across a statue on your right side. This Cursed Statue allows you to redistribute your health and stamina upgrades, though each adjustment costs 100 Rupees (with increasing cost per use).

For the remaining objectives in this guide, it’s best to enter the Royal Hidden Passage from the Observation Room. Descend through the trapdoor as before, landing on a winding staircase.
Reach the bottom and proceed past the rock walls ahead. You’ll drop into a cave inhabited by a Shock Like enemy. Defeat it, then glide to the ground. Find a rock wall on the northern side and break through. Continue until you arrive at the area where the Bubbulfrog resides.
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Royal Hidden Passage Soldier's Armor
To locate the Soldier's Armor inside the Royal Hidden Passage, continue south from where you found the Bubbulfrog. Look for an entrance blocked by rocks (as shown in the image below). Destroy them and enter to confront some skeleton enemies.
After defeating them, inspect the room. You’ll notice a gate you cannot pass. Opposite the gate is a small alcove containing a movable rock. Use Ultrahand to shift it, then jump into the hole below.
Make your way through the tunnel and use Ascend to rise back up. You’ll emerge on the other side of the previously blocked gate. Open the chest to claim the Soldier's Armor, which provides a base defense of 4.
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Royal Passage Stalnox
From the Soldier's Armor location, head south. You’ll need to clear more enemies and obstacles until reaching a large water-filled cavern. Swim in and look to your right. A pile of rocks blocks the path—destroying them triggers the Stalnox battle.
To defeat the Stalnox, target its eye when it emerges after being hit with arrows. Maintain distance and keep attacking the eye until the Stalnox falls. It drops the Stalnox Horn, which can be fused to a weapon to add 29 damage—making it one of the strongest Fuse items in the game.
