Where to find Sunset Fireflies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Jun 17, 2025 am 10:55 AMUPDATE: We have embedded an interactive map into this Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom guide, to help you with tracking down Sunset Fireflies across Hyrule.
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there are plenty of side quests to take on and creatures to battle outside of the main story. If you’ve decided to unlock the various Great Fairy Fountains around Hyrule, you’ll find that you need to track down and recruit four different musicians, each with their own request.

These elusive creatures can be found all over Hyrule at night, but are easy to overlook if you don’t know what to look for. Here’s where to find Sunset Fireflies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Where to find Sunset Fireflies in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Firstly, you can only search for Sunset Fireflies during nighttime in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. They appear from dusk until dawn, and won’t show up during daylight hours.
Additionally, it's important to recognize what Sunset Fireflies look like. They appear as small, green, glowing orbs, often seen floating in groups.
These creatures are typically found in forests and wetlands. If you're collecting them for The Flute Player’s Pan side quest, our Flute Player will suggest some ideal spots to look — specifically Pagos Woods and Finra Woods.
Both locations lie north of the Highland Stable and Utsushok Shrine, as shown on the map below!
Besides those two areas, you can also find Sunset Fireflies in other forested or swampy regions. Generally speaking, any forest or wetland area at night is a good bet. Just keep in mind that they won't spawn in areas with extreme temperatures, such as the scorching Gerudo Canyon or the icy Hebra Mountains.
I've spotted Sunset Fireflies in the Lanaryu Wetlands, Hateno Village, and near Satori Mountain in eastern Gerudo. Once you know how to identify and approach them, you'll likely encounter them frequently.
Also, if you'd rather not catch them yourself, you can purchase Sunset Fireflies from Beedle when he’s stationed at New Serenne Stable for 10 Rupees apiece, or buy them from the traveling merchant Eryck.

You’ll want to move toward them as quietly as possible. While having Stealth armor or using a stealth elixir helps, it's not required — crouching and moving slowly works just fine.
Each cluster usually contains only a few collectible fireflies, and these tend to glow slightly brighter than the others. After gathering three or four in one spot, it's best to move on to another forest or swamp where more of these flying insects may be found.
