How to defeat Colgera in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Defeating Colgera requires you to target its ice weak points across three distinct phases. Destroy each one to progress and ultimately bring the boss down. Here's a detailed breakdown of each phase and how to handle them effectively.
Colgera Wind Temple boss - Phase 1
Throughout the entire fight, you’ll use the strong wind current around the arena to control your altitude and get close to Colgera’s ice weak spots. Use your bow to slow time and fire arrows at the exposed weak points.
In the first phase, the weak spot is only visible when Colgera begins firing large icicles at Link. As soon as it starts attacking, jump and glide toward the weak point before it disappears again.
You can damage the weak point by flying directly into it, but it's safer to draw your bow, slow time, and shoot multiple arrows instead.
We used regular arrows successfully, but attaching bombs or stronger materials can speed up the process.
Once the weak point is destroyed, Colgera will vanish through a portal, beginning the second phase.
Colgera Wind Temple boss - Phase 2
In this phase, Colgera will periodically disappear through a portal and reappear from beneath the arena.
To deal damage, you'll need to glide underneath Colgera, position yourself near the ice weak point, then draw your bow to slow time and fire arrows.
The weak point becomes easier to identify when it looks like a snowflake with a purple center.
If aiming proves difficult, consider attaching homing materials such as Keese eyeballs to your arrows for better accuracy. If you're too far away, Keese wings may help extend arrow range, though they’re less reliable than homing materials.
However, if you're low on homing materials, save them for the final phase, where precision becomes even more critical.
Continue damaging Colgera until its health bar reaches half, which triggers the third and final phase.
Colgera Wind Temple boss - Phase 3
This phase follows the same basic strategy as phase two—get close to the weak spot and use your bow—but now Colgera will create multiple tornadoes that make movement more dangerous.
These tornadoes are tricky to navigate, so we recommend using Tulin’s gust ability to quickly escape when one approaches.
As mentioned earlier, this is the best time to use homing materials like Keese eyeballs to ensure your arrows hit their mark.
You can also attach powerful materials like bombs to your arrows to deal heavy damage faster.
After destroying the final weak point, Link defeats Colgera, triggering a cutscene, rewarding a heart container, and granting the Vow of Tulin as part of completing the Wind Temple.
Image credit: Nintendo The Vow of Tulin can be equipped from the 'Key Items' menu, letting you summon an avatar of Tulin during exploration and use his gust ability freely—except inside Shrines.
Now that you've defeated Colgera and completed the Wind Temple, try tackling the nearby Mayaumekis Shrine or locating the Frostbite Shirt not far away.
