For the second part of the piece, return to the door beside the bookshelves and stool where you assisted Old Man Gerson in reaching a green book. Once you’ve collected all three pieces, return to the golden piano. When you play the completed piece, a hidden room behind the fireplace in Old Man Gerson’s study will be revealed. Go there to discover a special item and face a secret boss.

How To Beat The Secret Boss

Inside the room behind the fireplace, you’ll find a mighty axe resting on a stone pedestal. This is the Justice Axe, which boosts Susie’s attack by 12 points when equipped. However, to claim it, you must defeat the secret boss, who turns out to be Old Man Gerson.

The battle is tough because Susie fights alone, and you cannot use any items during the fight. You’ll need to rely heavily on blocking and dodging his various attacks. During the fight, your soul will switch between green and red states.

Green Soul Attacks When your soul is green, movement is disabled, and you can only block incoming attacks using your axe. Initially, your soul is enclosed in a square barrier, and you must block strikes from the top, bottom, and sides. Another move involves him hurling dozens of small axes at you for a short time, followed by larger ones, ending with one massive axe.

His final move sees him swinging his Hammer of Justice. The impact zones will glow white before striking, giving you a chance to escape safely.

Susie’s Actions

Throughout the battle, Susie’s attacks may miss, but they generate more TP than defending. TP is crucial since her two available commands are your best hope for survival. Your only healing option is Susie’s Ok Heal, which costs 83 TP. Rude Buster, costing 50 TP, can help shorten the fight.

When you use Rude Buster, Old Man Gerson reflects it back at you. You must hit it back toward him. Each time you use this ability, he reflects it an additional time compared to the last.

After defeating him, you’ll earn the Justice Axe and a Shadow Crystal.
