Epona in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, once again the most noble of steeds, can be obtained, but there are some out-of-game conditions you must meet to unlock her.
Epona first appeared in Ocarina of Time and lived at Lon Lon Ranch before becoming Link’s trusted horse. She later returned in Twilight Princess and made an appearance in Breath of the Wild via an Amiibo. Now she's back in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with impressive horse stats that make her a great companion for travel.

How to get Epona in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you can obtain Epona by scanning either the Link (Twilight Princess) or Link (Super Smash Bros.) Amiibo figure, or by having a Breath of the Wild save file where Epona is registered at the Stables on your Nintendo Switch. We’ll explain both options in detail below.

The alternative method involves having a Breath of the Wild save file in which Epona has been registered at a Stable. If that’s the case, when you visit any Stable for the first time in Tears of the Kingdom, all horses from that save will carry over—including Epona.
You won’t need to pay the registration fee again and can immediately begin exploring Hyrule’s fields riding Epona.
Epona’s stats in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Every horse in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom comes with a set of stats, and Epona is no exception. Fortunately, her stats are among the best, making her a dependable and strong mount.
Epona’s stats are as follows:
- Strength - 4 Stars
- Speed - 4 Stars
- Stamina - 4 Stars
- Pull - None
- Temperament - Gentle
- Bond - Max
As shown above, Epona already has maximum bond with Link, meaning she will respond perfectly to your commands.
It’s worth noting that Epona cannot be outfitted with different tack or have a towing harness attached.
