How to start the A Picture for Highland Stable quest in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Before you can search for the Giant White Stallion, you must first begin the 'A Picture for Highland Stable' quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. To do this, you need to make your way to Highland Stable.

Highland Stable is located in Faron, in the southern portion of Hyrule. Below is a map showing its exact position. The coordinates for Highland Stable are 0518, -3442, 0047.

Once you arrive at the stable, go inside and walk over to the area with some tables and chairs. Look along the wall next to this section—you should notice a blank picture frame. Approach it and press 'A' to interact.

Padok will now speak to Link. Without going into too much detail, he requests a photo of the Giant White Stallion to place in the frame. This officially starts the 'A Picture for Highland Stable' quest.

How to find the Giant White Stallion in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

In Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll find the Giant White Stallion near Horse God Bridge at approximately (0786, -3723, 0081).

To reach the stallion, head toward the Lake of the Horse God, which lies southeast of Highland Stable. There are several ways to get there. You can attach a Zonai Rocket to a shield and paraglide toward the lake, climb through the terrain nearby, or simply ride your horse along the road leading to the location. We chose to ride.

As you approach the Horse God Bridge on horseback, you may encounter a Stone Talus. You don’t have to fight it—just keep riding across the bridge, as it won't follow you.

After crossing Horse God Bridge, continue down the path until it ends. At this point, you should see the Giant White Stallion peacefully grazing.

To complete the 'A Picture for Highland Stable' quest, simply take a photograph of the horse. Since the photo will be displayed in the stable, you might want to take your time getting a good shot.

Once you’re satisfied with the image, you have two options. Return to Highland Stable and talk to Padok to finish the quest, or attempt to tame the Giant White Stallion.

How to tame the Giant White Stallion in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Taming the Giant White Stallion in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom requires a significant amount of stamina. If you struggle with taming it, consider preparing stamina-enhancing meals or elixirs using the cooking pot at Highland Stable. Restless Crickets, which can be found by cutting grass around the stable, make for a useful ingredient.

If you still face difficulties, you may want to visit nearby Shrines to collect Lights of Blessing and increase your stamina at Goddess Statues.

Just like with a regular horse, you need to sneak up behind the stallion without being noticed. Having a stealth-enhancing item helps. Once close enough, press 'A' to mount the horse when prompted, then rapidly press 'L' to calm it down.

Keep an eye on your stamina meter. If it drops below half, use one of your stamina-enhancing items immediately.

Continue soothing the horse until it calms completely. Once tamed, ride it back to Highland Stable to register it. Note that due to its size, you cannot customize the saddle or bridle for this horse.

After registering the horse at the stable (we recommend naming it something memorable like Pebble), talk to Padok and select the 'Put up picture' option. Then, you can choose which photo gets displayed on the wall, and Padok will hang it up for you.

Completing this quest rewards you with one pony point, a high-tier meal, and—if successfully tamed—the Giant White Stallion itself.
